Overview

In July 2023, I joined Cubic.Art as a Fractional Head of Product, committing three days a week to help transform their platform. Cubic.Art is an innovative marketplace dedicated to digital art and NFTs, aiming to bridge the gap between artists and collectors in the digital realm.

Challenge

Upon my arrival, Cubic.Art was facing several significant challenges:

  • Lack of Product Direction: There was no clear roadmap or strategic plan guiding the product's development, leading to scattered efforts and missed opportunities.

  • Insufficient User Knowledge: The team lacked deep insights into user needs and behaviors, resulting in a product that didn't fully resonate with its target audience.

  • Team Misalignment: Communication gaps and unclear roles within the team hindered productivity and collaboration.

Solution

To address these issues, I implemented a comprehensive strategy focused on three key areas:

  1. Team Collaboration and Alignment

    • Integrated a Product Designer: Brought on a skilled product designer to enhance the platform's aesthetics and functionality.

    • Enhanced Communication: Established regular team meetings and clear channels for feedback to ensure everyone was aligned with the product goals.

    • Role Clarification: Defined clear responsibilities for each team member to improve accountability and efficiency.

  2. User-Centric Platform Redesign

    • Website Overhaul: Led a complete redesign of the website to improve user navigation and engagement.

    • Transparent User Area: Revamped the user dashboard to provide transparency around owned art pieces, including detailed information and provenance.

    • Streamlined KYC Process: Simplified the Know Your Customer requirements to reduce friction in the user onboarding process.

  3. Strategic Direction with Leadership

    • Collaboration with the CEO: Worked closely with Andrea, the CEO, to define and articulate a clear strategic vision for Cubic.Art.

    • Product Roadmap Development: Created a detailed roadmap outlining short-term and long-term product milestones aligned with business objectives.

    • Market Positioning: Identified unique value propositions to differentiate Cubic.Art in the competitive digital art marketplace.
